AC received a 911 call for a dog hit by car, they contact RCAPS because Clark’s hip appears out of place and he some cuts. He has a family somewhere because he has this chained attached to him. We are waiting on a full vet report. Clark was all wags. Clark’s hold is up on 10/19/19 and can be killed by shelter staff after that date.

The shelter has started the heartworm positive dogs on ivermectin to help start them on the slow kill method of heartworm treatment. Ivermectin alone does not cure heartworm and does not kill the adult heartworm. Adult heartworm will continue to damage a dog’s organs. Thorough heartworm treatment to cure a dog of the disease consists of diagnostics and a two prong approach to treatment for both the adult or immature heartworm. Veterinary care and supervision is key.
