Rex has a family out there someone took up a lot of time with him. Rex will sit, shake hands, do down, walks well on a leash and loves kids. Rex’s hold is up on 10/12/19 and can be killed by shelter staff after that date.

The shelter has started the heartworm positive dogs on ivermectin to help start them on the slow kill method of heartworm treatment. Ivermectin alone does not cure heartworm and does not kill the adult heartworm. Adult heartworm will continue to damage a dog’s organs. Thorough heartworm treatment to cure a dog of the disease consists of diagnostics and a two prong approach to treatment for both the adult or immature heartworm. Veterinary care and supervision is key.
Adoption Process
We do not do adoptions all adoptions must be done in person at the Vance County Animal Shelter.
